SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools)

SIAMS stands for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools. The framework is used as a process for evaluating the extent to which church schools are distinctively and recognisably Christian institutions.

A SIAMS inspection takes place approximately every five years, with the inspection exploring  ways in which each school’s theologically rooted Christian vision drives its work and enables the school to live up to its foundation as a Church school. It does so by seeking to answer the questions:

  • How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision enable pupils and adults to flourish?
  • How does the curriculum reflect the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision?
  • How is collective worship enabling pupils and adults to flourish spiritually?
  • How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision create a culture in which pupils and adults are treated well?
  • How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision create an active culture of justice and responsibility?
  • Is the religious education curriculum effective?

The most recent SIAMS inspection for Leamington Hastings Academy took place in March 2023, where the school was found to be 'excellent'. Snippets from the report are:

'Leaders at all levels embody and live out an aspirational Christian vision ensuring that pupils and adults are enabled to flourish. Jesus’ Parable of the Sower inspires a highly nurturing and loving environment, in which everyone is welcomed and included.'

'High levels of teacher expertise, coupled with an innovative religious education (RE) provision, ensure pupils develop deep skills of religious literacy. They acquire an impressive knowledge and understanding of major world religions and worldviews because of an engaging and skillfully crafted curriculum.'

;The learning and spiritual needs of pupils are exceptionally well met as everyone plants, grows deep roots, and flourishes together.'

'The character and moral development of pupils is extremely well supported by the academy’s clarity of vision. This gives pupils and adults aspiration for themselves and hope for the communities in which they are a part. Leaders ensure that pupils have regular opportunities to participate in a wealth of experiences in larger groups and bigger settings'
