The Governing Body has two Full Governing Body meetings per term. One meeting concentrates on issues concerning Finance & Premises and the other, Performance & Standards.

Matt Markham - Community Governor
Matt started working for West Midlands Police in 1989, a year after leaving school. His policing career has been varied but predominately centred around investigative roles. Matt is currently a Detective Chief Inspector with responsibility for the Major Investigation Teams and Serious Acquisitive Crime Teams across Coventry and Solihull. He is one of the force’s Senior Investigating Officers (SIO) and has investigated several murders during his time as a DI and DCI. In addition, he is also one of a small number of Kidnap and Extortion (Crimes in Action) SIOs. Other interesting roles Matt has held are Staff Officer to the Deputy Chief Constable, Head of Press and PR for the West Midlands Police and the Birmingham Police Lead on child death and serious case reviews. Matt is a member of the Warwickshire Race Equality Partnership and always had a keen interest on EDHR issues. In 2006 he was the co-author of West Midlands Police first Race Equality Scheme and still leads on EDHR for the Force CID. In keeping with this interest, in 2013 Matt was awarded a Masters Degree (with distinction) in Community Cohesion Management from Coventry University. Matt is a Member of the Chartered Management Institute.
Dr Carmel de Nahlik - Community Governor
Carmel has advised many boards on governance, financial strategy and change projects. She holds degrees in Chemistry, an MBA, a PhD and a Masters in Online and Distance Learning as well as a PGCE for Higher Education. A former banker, now turned academic, she is the co-author of two books on project financing and the author of The Essential Guide to Banking, written for decision makers, including school governors, for whom this is a new area. Her international banking career was followed by an international consulting career and then a life as an academic. She has coached and mentored at board and senior government level and resolved problems including politically sensitive financings.
Carmel has taught at several universities in the UK and in France and has designed and delivered executive education programmes focusing on project finance, project management, change, leadership and ethics and has participated in major change projects within large and small organisations. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, a Member of the Association for Project Management and a former Council member of the Institute of Petroleum of Great Britain and Ireland and has been a local Parish Councillor. Her family has lived in Birdingbury for over 20 years.
Natalie Heckford - Parent Governor
Joe Twinn - Parent Governor and Vice Chair
Joe has been a Parent Governor for 18 months and local to the Leamington Hastings area for the last 7 years. He is a Procurement Manager at National Grid and supports the maintenance and management of the entire estate of > 350 substations, compressor stations and office. Previous to joining National Grid, Joe has worked in national and international supply chain and procurement functions for Macfarlane Packaging and Avon Cosmetics - supporting a number of functions and developing strategic and commercial sourcing options for a wide range of products. Joe holds a BA (Hons) from Durham University in Chinese, an MBA from Warwick University and a Diploma in Chinese Language from the People's University in Beijing.
Suzanne Marson - Head of School Governor
Suzanne is the Head of School at Leamington Hastings C of E Academy, taking responsibility for the day to day leadership of the school. Following the completion of a Psychology Degree and a PGCE at the University of Warwick, Suzanne has held the positions of Class Teacher, Key Stage One Phase Leader and Acting Deputy Head and has led many different curriculum subject areas. She also holds the NPQSL Senior Leadership qualification and the national SENCo award. Suzanne is an STA approved Local Authority moderator for Warwickshire, a role that she has held since 2012 and has previous experience of governorship, having held the role of Staff Governor at Dunchurch Infant School for three years prior to joining Leamington Hastings Academy.
