Mrs Linda Ryans

Parent Governor

Matt started working for West Midlands Police in 1989, a year after leaving school.  His policing career has been varied but predominately centred around investigative roles.  Matt is currently a Detective Chief Inspector with responsibility for the major investigation teams and serious acquisitive crime teams across Coventry and Solihull.  He is one of the Force’s senior investigating officers (SIO) and has investigated several murders during his time as a DI and DCI.  In addition, he is also one of a small number of kidnap and extortion (crimes in action) SIOs. Other interesting roles Matt has held are staff officer to the Deputy Chief Constable, head of press and PR for the West Midlands Police, and the Birmingham police lead on child death and serious case reviews..Matt is a member of the Warwickshire Race Equality Partnership and always had a keen interest on EDHR issues.  In 2006 he was the co-author of West Midlands Police first race equality scheme and still leads on EDHR for the Force CID.  In keeping with this interest, in 2013 Matt was awarded a Masters Degree (with distinction) in Community Cohesion Management from Coventry University.  Matt is a Member of the Chartered Management Institute.
